From the start you have slots for 2 Warframes, 8 weapons (primary, secondary and melee), 8 Sentinels or their weapons and 2 Kubrows. The number of certain items you can store in your inventory is limited by slots. Ok, so there is a maximum number of built weapons you can have at any one time, I cant recall exactly what that limit is, but once you reach it and try to claim a new weapon you'll get an on screen popup telling you that you need more slots, the system is the same for warframes and companions too but each category has its own cap, in theory there isnt a maximum you can raise the cap to, provided you can buy enough extra slots.
